Wear of the Week: Boom + Leather Vest

Image

Although we live close to the coast in a laid back Southern California town, I frequently like to channel an urban vibe for my ensemble.  There is something uber chic about wearing all black, accenting with leather, and accessorizing with bold accessories and sequins.  It makes me feel I am in the bustling streets of NYC instead of 20 yards from the ocean in a quaint downtown.

This is exactly what I was going for in the final Wear of the Week look.  I layered the Boom sweatshirt with a vegan leather vest (one of the most versatile pieces I have in my closet for fall), red pants (they’re ba-a-a-ck), black leather boots and oversized hoop earrings.

Am I in Malibu or Manhattan?  You would never know.

Wear of the Week: Booties + Skinny Jeans

Image

The cool weather continues- and so does my love for fall fashion!  For today’s look, I paired booties with skinny jeans.
This partnership is reminiscent of the relationship between gouda cheese and an apple slice, kindergarten best friends, or Kesha and an 808 drum.  They just fit together and make a sensible combination.

I half-tucked a floral tunic to create shape and paired it all together with a moto jacket I picked up from Zara while on a trip to San Francisco.  It was patiently waiting in my closet since June and I was so excited to put it to use. Image

Along with a side pony, this is casual comfort at its finest!

Tomorrow I will be styling the final Wear of the Week look.  Thank you for stopping by!

Wear of the Week: Red Denim + Parrot Printed Blouse

Image“She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite what you would call unrefined. She was the kind of person that keeps a parrot.”  -Mark Twain

My father was a commercial fisherman back in the day.  He would go on excursions that could last months at a time.  On one of these long deployments, my mom and her sister thought it would be a good idea to invest in a parakeet to keep my mother company when he was away.  I wish I was old enough to have seen the look on my dad’s face when he came home from his fishing trip and saw heard a squawking bird in the corner of the living room.  Needless to say, it was not long thereafter he quit the fishing business.

Nowadays, although I don’t actually have a parrot as a pet, I do love a parrot-printed blouse.ImageWhen sporting colored denim, it automatically adds an element of fun to an outfit. Why not continue that momentum with your upper half?  I am a sucker for blouses, especially when an unexpected print is involved.  When I found this number in NY last fall, I knew it was going to be a great addition to my closet.  I especially loved the studded detail on the color (which will look great under a sweater or jacket come cooler weather).ImagePaired with a sparkle clutch and my new favorite fringe booties (I apologize in advance as I know these will be making many appearances on here this season), this outfit is begging to be taken out for a night on the town!Image

Wear of the Week: Red Denim + Color Block

ImageA bold and unexpected way to sport our Wear of the Week is to pair it with another color.  It is two trends in one: color blocking and red denim.  I love how mustard yellow and red foil each other and are both complimentary yet contrasting.ImageTo add another dimension and some spunk, I paired it with a vegan leather vest and leopard wedge booties.ImageImageThis is also a great transitional outfit to fall.  The short sleeves and open toed shoes allow for for some air but the colors and trends reflect fall fashion.Image

How are you beating the heat but embracing fall styles?

Wear of the Week: Rockstar Red Denim

ImageWhen attending a concert, I love to touch base with my inner rockstar.  It feels like playing dress up as I don’t channel the edgy side of me all too often.  Red denim is a a versatile bottom that allows me to do just that.ImageImageI will be attending the One Republic concert next week and plan on wearing this ensemble.  Paired with a cheetah printed tank and some fringe booties, I will fit right in with the One Republic groupies.  Plus, a crossbody bag is a must so I can have my hands free for a camera in one hand and a beer in another! What I am Wearing: Boyfriend Jeans and Heels

ImageI just purchased these boyfriend jeans from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have hardly taken them off since!  I am not sure why it took me so long to jump on the boyfriend jean trend, but now that I am on it, I think I will be riding it until the end.  Not only are they oh-so-comfortable- thanks to the looser fit- but they are très easy to dress up or down.  It’s simple to pair them with sandals and flats for everyday, but I also love the contrast they provide with a dressy blouse and heels.  This makes grabbing drinks with friends so effortless and comfortable!  Oh, and if you switch the jeans for black pants, you have an office-appropriate outfit.  Just pack the jeans for an effortless work to happy hour transition!
